Algae blooms can be a major headache, not to mention interrupting the enjoyment of relaxing in your pool. The only thing that you need to clear it is chlorine and that is already in your pool. There is not a need for Algaecides or "fix all" additives. You just need to increase the chlorine levels (shock) and keep them up until there is not a dramatic drop occurring after a few hours.

Once the algae is dead, your pool will change to a murky, gray color and now you just need to get that out. The chemical way is to add a flocculent that binds to the algae particles, causing them to sink to the bottom of the pool after a day or so. That sediment is then vacuumed to waste and can result in a fairly large amount of wasted water.

The alternative to that is to connect an Aquabag to the water return/inlet(s) to give a fine, final filtration of the water returning to the pool from your filter.
